Teachers of STEM Initiative
In February 2024, we welcomed our Teachers of STEM (ToSI) participants to Meanjin for our professional development programs.
Jardibirrijba
Bringing us together at the start was a great way to build connections with other strong women. The check-ins were always supportive and a great way to know you aren’t the only one struggling with juggling work, family and study.’
Lisa Capewell.
Participants in the early stages of the program attended Jardibirrijba (make strong). This program supports study planning through the development of a High-Expectations Relationships Personal Development Plan and introduces Indigenous pedagogies.
Jardi Dadarrinyi
As always, thank you to Stronger Smarter and the ToSI team for a deadly week on Yuggera and Turrbal country for Jardi Dadarrinyi! I love being in circle with Indigenous women and learning on country from traditional knowledge holders. I always walk away from an SSI program feeling a deeper connections to others and confident in identity.
Sarah Hayes
Jardi Dadarrinyi (standing strong, straight, backbone) connects our ToSI participants with Indigenous Knowledge experts and provides strategies to help incorporate culturally-responsive curriculums into lesson planning.
Our program names are drawn from Waanyi Garrawa Language.
