Teachers of STEM – Alex Honeysett
I am a Wiradjuri woman. I am currently living on Yorta Yorta and Bangarang Country.
I completed my Bachelor of Education (Secondary) at La Trobe University Bundoora. My focus was on Physics and Mathematics.
The best part of the ToSI experience has been meeting strong women who can relate to the same experiences that I have had. Learning from these people through the Jardibirrijba and Jardi Dadarrinyi programs and forming lifelong connections and friendships.
I currently have a role at a local high school where I will be teaching Physics and Mathematics and have just become a part of the Marrung team at the school, where I will continue to work with other educators to continue to implement Indigenous Knowledges and perspectives within our school.
Our Teachers of STEM Initiative provides financial and mentorship support to First Nations women studying to become STEM teachers. We still have places available.
