New CEO Appointment: Dr Chris Sarra

The Stronger Smarter Institute is pleased to announce that Dr Chris Sarra, founder of the Institute and former Chief Executive Officer, will return to lead the organisation at this important time in its journey.  This follows Ms Dyonne Anderson’s decision to step down from her role as CEO.

Dr Sarra brings deep experience in education, leadership and public service, along with a longstanding commitment to strengthening outcomes for First Nations children and young people. As the architect of the Stronger Smarter Philosophy and Approach, his leadership has been instrumental in shaping the Institute’s vision, values and national impact.

Dr Sarra’s return as CEO will guide the next phase of the Institute’s work, expanding its leadership beyond education into broader conversations about systems change, Indigenous leadership and Australia’s shared future. Building on more than two decades of impact in schools, Dr Sarra will lead the Institute to work across education, community, and policy, positioning the Stronger Smarter Approach as a foundation for courageous leadership and national transformation.

The Institute and the Board extend their heartfelt thanks to Ms Anderson for her outstanding contribution as CEO.  We wish her every success as she returns to her beloved Cabbage Tree Island community at a critical time in the community’s rebuilding journey, following the devastating floods that impacted the region in recent years.

The Stronger Smarter Institute remains steadfast in its vision for a stronger, smarter future for First Nations children, families, and communities, and we look forward to this next chapter with great optimism and renewed energy.
