Stronger Smarter Institute CEO Announces Resignation

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
10 July 2025

The Stronger Smarter Institute (SSI) announces that Ms Dyonne Anderson will be stepping down from her role as Chief Executive Officer, with her resignation taking effect on 18 July 2025.

Ms Anderson has served SSI and its Board with integrity and commitment, bringing strong leadership to our work in advancing high-expectations relationships and educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. She is deeply respected by colleagues across Australia, and her leadership has helped strengthen the reach and reputation of the Stronger Smarter Approach.

Ms Anderson has made the decision to return to her beloved Cabbage Tree Island community, where she will take up the role of school principal. This decision comes at a critical time in the community’s rebuilding journey, following the devastating floods that impacted the region in recent years. Her passion for Cabbage Tree Island and her commitment to serving her people remain unwavering.

The Board extends its heartfelt thanks to Ms Anderson for her outstanding contribution as CEO, and wishes her every success as she returns to serve her community. We are confident that her connection with SSI will continue, and that she will remain a valued champion of the Stronger Smarter Philosophy.

SSI is pleased to announce that Dr Chris Sarra, founder of the Stronger Smarter Institute and former CEO, will return to lead the organisation at this important time. Dr Sarra brings many years of experience in education, leadership, and public service, and will ensure continued momentum and impact in the Institute’s work.

The Stronger Smarter Institute remains steadfast in its vision for a stronger, smarter future for Indigenous children, families, and communities, and we look forward to this next chapter with great optimism and renewed energy.
